Six arrests for issuing non-certified academic qualifications

Six educational institutions, which issued non-certified academic qualifications, were identified by inspectors of the Directorate of Economic Crime (DEOS) of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).

As announced by AADE, inspections were carried out at educational institutions in the regional units of Attica, Chania (Crete) and Ioannina (western Greece), which provided education services by issuing certificates and diplomas whose validity had been called into question by the competent Certification Service of the Ministry of Education.

Through this activity, they generated profits amounting to 3.2 million euros for the years 2024, 2025, and up to the date of the inspection.

Furthermore, DEOS inspectors established additional tax infringements by these undertakings. From 2020 to date, they had issued more than 10,000 tax documents reflecting inaccurate revenue amounts, thereby concealing and failing to remit value added tax (VAT) totalling 1.8 million euros.

Six individuals were arrested on charges of felony fraud and tax evasion and were brought before the competent judicial authorities under the expedited flagrante delicto procedure.

PS Name and Shame them? I’m sure these institutions are “respectable” and not some members of the Roma community or migrants to have their names and pictures published on media right away.
