“Revolutionary Struggle” claims responsibility for car bomb on April 10/2014

Guerrilla group Rveolutionary Struggle claimed responsibility for the car bomb that exploded outside the Bank of Greece in the dawn of April 10th in downtown Athens on Amerikis street,  a day before German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the Greek capital.

In a 18,322 words long text, the group said that the bomb was a protest to Greece’s return to international markets. Target was the “Bank of Greece” and the “IMF representative in Greece, Wess McGrew” who has offices in the same street, says the Revolutionary struggle right in the beginning of the text.

The group claims further that the car was containing “75kg of explosives ANFO.”

The proclamation was uploaded in Greek website Athens.Indymedia.

Citing police source, Greek media report that fugitive Nikos Maziotis was the author of the proclamation.

Revolutionary Struggle was silent since the arrests of many of its members in 2010.

The powerful explosion on April 10th shocked the Greek government and the police, a day after Greece return to the international bond markets and a day before the arrival of Angela Merkel. The detonation in downtown Athens caused damages to buildings and shops, but no one was hurt.
