A new rage group appeared in the Greek anarcho-scene: the Eco Green Anarchists. They threaten butchers, hunters, pet shops, slaughterers, fishmonger’s, fur shops and even the “cadaver-eater next door.”
The new movement has already smashed the windows of a butcher’s shop and vehicle in Exarcheia district of Athens last week.
A couple of days later, they set on fire the truck of a butcher’s shop in Zografou suburb of Athens and a jeep with attached transporter for dogs. They claimed the jeep belonged to a hunter.
In a statement they uploaded on a website believed to belong to the anarchists’ scene, the movement that calls themselves “Green Anarchy Cell of Hammer-carrying Commandos” and “Animal Liberation Front”
“Let the International Green Anarchy Week Oct 30-Nov 5 will be the reason for causing black and green chaos in the neighborhoods of big cities and small towns: Smash butchers’ shops, burn fur shops, vandalize pet shops, liberate imprisoned animals, beat hunters and slaughterers, to act with inspired imagination and black and black-green vigor.”
They claimed responsibility for the attack “with sledgehammers” against the butcher shop in Exarchia.
In their statement they said they did not care if the business they target is big or small as “it is based on the objectification and exploitation of other sentient beings.” They also target those working at such businesses saying “to say I had no other choice was not a convincing excuse.”
They do not spare meat consumers who they describe as the cadaver-eater next door.
SIGH. Green anarchists? They sound like violent pacifists.
