There will changes and cancellations on all railway services in Athens, Thessaloniki and Patras, as well as the trains to Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos, on Monday and Tuesday due to work stoppages held by railway employees.
According to the Panhellenic Railway Employees Federation, three-hour work stoppages will be held on Monday, March 5th 2018:
- from 05:00 to 08:00 am
- from 1 o’ clock to 4 pm
- from 9 pm to midnight
A 24-hour strike will be held on Tuesday, March 6th.
According to amna, the employees are striking in protest against the continuing, as they claim, degradation of rail companies, resulting in transportation problems and a huge lack of staff.
KTG understands that the strike will affect the new train line between Athens Airport and the Port of Piraeus as it belongs to Proatiakos that belongs to TrainOSE.
As the metro line to Airport belongs also to Porastiakos after <Doukissis Plakentias> station the strike might affect access to airport via the Metro as well. I will try to check out and make an update if necessary.
Anyway one can call <14511> at TrainOSE for more information, daily 6 am to 11 pm.
PS I never understood, why the metro lines must belong two different state companies.
