The sea route connecting the Ionian islands with each other was launched at 6:30 in the morning on Wednesday, May 2nd 2018. High Speed ship “Azimut” set sail from the island of Corfu for the islands of Paxos, Ithaca (Pisaetos port), Lefkada, Kefallonia (Sami port) and Zakynthos.
The total capacity of the ship is 170 passengers, on its maiden journey it carried 100 people.
The ship will sail among the islands of the Ionian Sea between May 2nd and the end of October.
In the first week, one journey is planned, two in the following week and three schedules per week as of May 25th all through the touristic season.
Journeys from Zakynthos are scheduled on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Consequently, departures from Corfu are scheduled Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Speaking to local media of Kefallonia, the ship owner said that High Speed Azimut will operate also in winter and the journeys will be made possible due to state subsidy.
Locals have asked for a direct ship connecting the islands of the Ionian Sea for years.
