Earthquake tremors rattle Ioannina in Western Greece

Three earthquake tremors rattled the Prefecture of Ioannina and some area in Epirus in Western Greece on Wednesday morning. The first earthquake with magnitude 4.2 R occurred at 09:49 a.m. with epicenter 13km North-West of the city of Ioannina in the area between Kalpaki and Zitsa.

The earthquake had a depth of 5km.

The second earthquake occurred a few minutes later at 09:54 a.m. and had the same epicenter. Its magnitude was 3.5 R.

A third tremor with 2.6 R followed at 10:25 a.m.

So far, no injuries or material damages have been reported.

Seismologist are closely watching the seismic activity and appear reassuring.
