Greek port authorities have banned ferries from sailing in the Aegean Sea due to gale-force South-West winds reaching 8 to 9 Beaufort and at times also up to 10 in the North Aegean Sea. Ferries with destination the islands of East Aegean, Cyclades, Crete and Dodecanese remain docked at the ports since late Wednesday evening.
Ferries remain docked at the Attica ports of Piraeus, Lavrio and Rafina also on Thursday morning.
Only conventional ships are allowed to sail in the Saronic Gulf, while flying dolphins service has been cancelled.
Sea traffic has been disrupted also in other parts of the country.
The crossings Rio-Antirio, Kyllini-Zakynthos, Agia Marina-Nea Styra and Kavala-Prinos are currently closed to sea traffic.
If you plan to travel, please, check with local port authorities and travel agents.
