Heat Wave strikes Greece with 41°C – 42°C: Forecast July 8-10

Temperature increases further on Monday, July 8, as one more heat wave strikes Greece. According to weather forecast, the new heat wave will push the thermometer up to 42 and even 43 degrees Celsius locally in the next couple of days. °

Greek authorities urge citizens to take precautionary measures during the heat wave: Drink plenty of Water, Avoid big and heavy meals, alcohol consumption, intense body exercise. Keep indoors atmosphere cool, Take frequent showers. Keep contact especially to elderly members of family.

Monday, July 8

Temperature will reach 39° C in the continental mainland and will exceed 40° C in the Central Greek regions of Thessaly and Sterea.

Local thunderstorms in East Macedonia and Thrace as of early afternoon.

Tuesday, July 9

Maxium temperatures will reach 40° C in continental mainland, up to 42° C in Thessaly and up to 38° C on the Dodecanese.

Wednesday, July 10

Temperature up to 41° C in continental mainland, up to 42° C in Central Greece and up to 38° on the islands of the East Aegean Sea and Crete.

Strong rainfalls and thunderstorms in Central and especially Northern Greece.

Temperature is forecast to significantly drop in Northern Greece.

Considerable temperature decline across the country is expected as of Thursday, July 11.

  1. I had out fresh water for a baby bird hiding in the shadow underneath a tree. He was clearly overheated. He was happy for water to drink and bathe in.
    Thankfully the mother was close by and came back to the bird, after he got to cool down.

    Thank you for always thinking of the animals during heat waves and harsh weather. And reminding others to do the same.
