Storms, rainfalls, strong winds, hail: New Weather Warning for Greece

Storms, rainfalls, strong winds and hail are forecast in a weather warning issued by the Greek national Meteorological Service on Monday. The bad weather front is moving to Greece from Italy and will initially strike the West of the country.

Meteorological Service EMY warns of strong rainfalls and storms temporarily accompanied by hail and powerful winds.

The phenomena will affect almost all parts of the continental Greece, with high lightning activity.

Tuesday, 16. July 2019

As of the afternoon hours: the Ionian Sea, Epirus, West Macedonia, Western Sterea, Peloponnese and probably temporarily also Central Macedonia.

As of the evening hours:  Thessaly and Eastern Sterea.

In the night to Wednesday: the Sporades island, northern and central Evia

Wednesday, 17. July 2019

Early morning hours until noon time: Thessaly, Sporades islands, East Sterea, and probably Evia.

Weather phenomena will weaken as of Wed afternoon.

Deterioration from afternoon hours.

Attica will be affected mainly in its west and north parts and temporarily in the night form Tuesday to Wednesday.

Also on Monday, July 15, the weather reminds rather September than July.

Heavy storms stroke Greece over the weekend flooding homes and business places and damaging infrastructure in West Greece and turned roads into rushing rivers on the island of Syros.

3,500 thunderbolts fell within one day.
