Hundreds of pilgrims flocked to the chapel of Saints Andrianos and Natalia by Naplio to get a blessing from a holy hole. Pilgrims press their bodies through a small hole under the icon of Virgin Mary. According to the faithful, even if the hole is small the miracle hole allows all sizes of bodies to pass through.
The chapel of Saints Andrianos and Natalia is located in the small village of Agios Andrianos or Katsigri, 5 km northwest of the city of Nafplio.
The hole beneath the icon of the Virgin Mary is considered by the faithful to be one of the many miracles of Orthodoxy.
When one first sees it, one believes that only a small child can pass through it.
According to the tradition, though, the hole enables the whole human body to pass through.
Whatever people have tried to go through, they have succeeded, regardless of their weight. It is said that it is very good for the visitor to cross the hole, that it is a blessing.
Tradition wants the believer to pass through the holy hole three times.
Saints Andrianos and Natalia are considered miraculous, and the faithful attendance is high, as it exceeds the boundaries of the area and extends to pilgrims from all over Greece.
In fact, it is a symbol of faith mainly for women and gives hope to those who cannot conceive.
The chapel has frescoes dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Saints Hadrian and Natalia were married and, when Hadrian was arrested by the Romans because he was a Christian, Saint Natalia supported him and urged him not to betray his faith despite being tortured. This led to his martyrdom.
