Two elderly siblings were found in state of starvation in their home in a central neighborhood of Volos, Central Greece.
Neighbors alarmed the police after the elderly man and his sister had not shown signs of life for a couple of days.
Police needed the help of a locksmith to open the door as the siblings did not respond to calls.
The man was found laying on the floor and was unable to move. His sister who suffers from dementia was on her bed.
According to estimations they were in this state of helplessness for two or three days.
The siblings have reportedly no relatives who could take care of them.
The elderly were taken to the General Hospital of Volos where they received first aid. They had been admitted again to the hospital ten days ago.
The siblings were known to the local social services that now promised that the municipality social services will take care of them.
