The office against Heresy of the Metropolis of Argolida considers “yoga, pilates, meditation and alternative practices” as “dangerous modern trends.”
In cooperation with Panhellenic Union of Parents for the Protection of Greek Orthodox Culture, the Metropolis is organizing a conference in order to warn the local community about this “dangerous practices.”

The program includes information by experts, audio-visual material and answers to questions about these issues, the Metropolis of Argolida said in a press release and distributed flyers.

The conference is scheduled for 29. September in Argos near Nafplio.
Nope, I don’t want to know why yoga & co. trends are “dangerous.” What I know, though, is that the heresy office of the Metropolis of Argolida and the Parents Union are being beamed in light speed back to the Middle Ages.
PS Are going to the gym or walking, swimming and tennis also a practice that puts at risk our Greek Orthodox Culture or the heresy office is just against practices coming from the East?

Sorry, here’s the comments from the Greek Orthodox Church in North America.

Yoga, ok, I can understand why they protest (ties to Hinduism). But Pilates???? Is it because it’s named after a German guy?
Among the types of meditation (TYPES!) there is also silent prayer. I wish I could be a fly on the wall….
@mmexis,
not only that, but the German guy that “invented” Pilates was of Greek origin. Kinda funny how religious freaks can go full stupid with their beliefs.
