Fifteen more people died of flu complications within a week in Greece raising the number of death toll to 53, the National Public Health Organization (EODDY) said in its weekly bulletin on Thursday.
During the same week, February 6-13, 2020, 87 serious cases of influenza have been recorded, the infected patients had to hospitalized, some of them in intensive care units.
According to EODDY, the seasonal flu is reaching its peak.
Epidemiologists estimate, however, that the situation will stabilize in the coming period.
Visits to doctors with symptoms of influenza remain high, EODY experts point out.
They recommend that the best way to protect one’s self from influenza is vaccination and compliance with personal hygiene measures.
The flu period usually end mid-March.
