Flooded streets on Rhodes? No problem, if you have a canoe (videos)

Heavy rain fell on the island of Rhodes and flooded several local rivers and streams on Saturday. The mud waters did not take long and made their way to settlement and villages, thus causing also power outages. It was a matter of time, for streets and roads to turn into rivers.

A resident of Lardos had no problem to go out despite the situation. All he needed was a canoe, a row and an umbrella.

The video below shows how the waters of Meridiatis river flood the streets and homes of Archagellos.

The bad weather front hit the island of Rhodes with heavy rainfalls and powerful winds blowing with intensity of 8-9 Beaufort causing problems also in the air and sea traffic.

An airplane returned to Athens after three unsuccessful attempts to land at Diagoras Airport, while a ferry with 300 passengers and crew waited for eight hours off the port of Rhodes unable to dock.
