PPC asks consumers to measure electricity consumption by themselves

The Greek Public Power Company (PPC/DEH) has reportedly asked consumers to conduct measurements on their home electricity consumption and declare it to the company officers. Consumers have denounced this to media.

According to news website in.gr, PPC subscribers who have not received their bills for several months have turned to the local offices of the state power company.

There, they were told to “measure the electricity consumption by themselves,” note the subscription number and inform accordingly the local offices of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (DEDDHE) which is in charge of the measurements.

“You will receive the bill within 3-4 days,” the stunned consumers had to hear by the public officers.

“Consumers do nothing and expect that the company takes initiative,” in.gr writes.

The website does not mention in which region/city/town or village of Greece, the staff of PPC and its subsidiary DEDDHE does not do their work, but expect from ordinary citizens to carry it out.

The news website notes that there is staff shortage at the PPC and the DEDDHE.

PS But there is enough and quick staff when it comes to cut power to households that cannot afford to pay their bills to the PPC, right?

  1. I don’t get the problem :S If you don’t give the meters sure you don’t get a bill but eventualy you will so .. pay now or pay later bigtime. And cutting off does it happen with people who are 1 or 2 payments behind???
