The Greek Ministry of Culture decided on Friday to close all museums and archaeological sites in the country as a measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Still yesterday, the Culture Ministry had decided to have archaeological sites open and was allowing controlled groups of up to 20 people to visit the museums.
In a statement, the Ministry said on Friday that due to the special conditions there is a shortage of guards and therefore it decided to closed archaeological sites and museums in consultation with the Panhellenic Federation of Guards.
The decision is valid until March 30.
The Ministry has ordered the thorough cleaning of the sanitary facilities used by the staff of the Ministry of Culture, museums and archaeological sites, the statement said.
