A citizen in Palaio Faliro suburb of southern Athens turned his balcony into a disco on Saturday night, the sixth day of the lockdown in Greece. The creative man was armed with a wide repertoire of music choices and powerful loudspeakers. Neighbors came out on the balconies and joined the party in a safety distance as provided by the law. Some were so excited that they lit smoke flares and fireworks.
The appointment for the party had been arranged early Saturday, at 9 o’ clock sharp the hell broke out. With flashlights, organizers targeted other apartments to incite residents to come out. The response was immediate. Within minutes, dozens of residents came out waving with their own flashlights creating an atmosphere of “strobe light” in a disco.
Sound on! The DJ had everything to offer: from typical polular song (laika) up to rock ‘n roll classics.
The loudspeakers were reportedly so powerful that the music was heard up to three blocks away.
The most hot-blooded among the crowd lit red smoke flares turning the disco residential block into a football pitch.

Everybody has fun within the limits of the self-isolation and stay at home.
Some daring guy jumped on canopy and danced.
However, not everyone in the neighborhood was happy about the event. Annoyed by the noise, a resident called the police claiming that a party was going on inside an apartment and thus with more than 10 people, which is above the legal limit for gatherings.
A police car rushed to the ‘party’ only to find out what was really going on: no crowding, no lockdown violation, everybody well-behaved on his own balcony.
“They’re gone,” the DJ informed the public and the party continued with the same beat.
The police car reportedly drove by some four times, the officers urged the DJ with their own loudspeakers to lower the volume, stop lighting smoke flares and fire works.
Yet, the party continued until everybody was exhausted from dancing on his own balcony…
The next Quarantine party is scheduled for the upcoming Saturday.
The slogan of the neighborhood is “We stay at home but we are not alone!”
