2 asymptomatic patients tested positive in Thessaloniki hospital

Alarm in AHEPA hospital in Thessaloniki on Monday after two asymptomatic patients were tested positive to COVID-19. The patients, a 70-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man, were already hospitalized for health issues other than of the coronavirus, and thus without specific safety measures for several days.

Worth noting that AHEPA is one of the 13 hospitals in the country designated to treat COVID-19 patients.

The 70-year-old patient was in the hospital for ten days and had no symptom of the virus. Short before undergoing a surgery, she tested positive to COVID-19.

The 81-year-old man had reportedly some mild symptoms, but the first test was negative. He was tested positive in the second test.

Immediately, actions were taken to disinfect the area and track down the people with whom the two patients came in contact with.

According to Mega TV, over 40 people who came in contact with the patients have been tested, among them are doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and patients’ relatives.

In Alexandra hospital in Athens, a man admitted on Sunday for another health issue was tested positive after intubated in Intensive Care Unit. 7 nurses and 6 doctors have undergone testing.
