Justice authorities in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, have launched a preliminary investigation into possible medical negligence in the death of a 35-year-old patient who died after infection with Covid-19 last month.
According to media report, the probe is focusing on the treatment received by the man, the youngest victim of the pandemic in Greece.
The man, carpenter by profession, had no underlying health problems and died three days after he was admitted to the intensive care unit of Agios Dimitiros hospital. He had persistent high fever for several days. His health condition rapidly deteriorated on April 18 and passed away on April 21.
Aim of the investigation is to ascertain whether any possible mistakes or oversights were made at the hospital.
