Mafia-style double murder of two foreign nationals on Corfu

Two foreign nationals were found murdered in their car outside the apartment they had rented in Halikouna village on the island of Corfu early Thursday evening. The two men of Montenegro nationality had arrived on the island 1.5 month ago.

Their bodies were found inside a vehicle, in a parking lot of a villa they had rented in the south of Corfu. They had suffered multiple injuries by a firearm. Police found 30 cartridges, ANT1 TV reported.

Citing Montenegro media, local media corfunews writes that the two men have been identified as Baranin Alan Kožar and Damir Hadžić from the Užice region of Montenegro and were allegedly members of the criminal organization “Skaliari”.

According to cnngreece, police estimates that the double murder on Corfu is related to the mafia-style assault in a tavern in Vari by south Athens last January.

It is recalled that then Igor Dedovic and Stevan Stamatovic (they were the “leaders” of “Skaliari”) were killed, who according to information were friends of Kozar, who was killed in Halikouna.

A team from the Homicide Department of the Attica Security Department has reportedly rushed to Corfu to investigate the double murder.

Greece has sought the assistance of the Interpol.

Police is seeking for a third person that had rented the villa for the two victims who were supposed to stay there for another two months.
