Tragic end for an 18-year-old tourist on summer vacations on the island of Mykonos. The girl was killed on the spot when the vehicle she was with another three friends fell off a cliff.
The dream vacations for a group of 8 young tourists turned into a nightmare in the early morning hours of Thursday. The girls were on two cars and were driving on the provincial road Agios Stefanos-Fanari.
According to a police statement, two cars were moving in the same direction with a total of eight foreign nationals on board. At some point, both cars got off the road and fell off the cliff from a great height into the rocky coast.
The 18-year-old woman was fatally injured, the other drivers and passengers suffered minor injuries.
The young woman was immediately transported to the Mykonos Health Center where she was pronounced dead.
The deceased as well as the other seven passengers were Italian nationals.
Police investigates the causes of the traffic accidents.
In another accident also on Friday, a 36-year-old Italian kite surfer was taken away by wind gusts in the Korfou area of Mukonos. He crashed first on a parked vehicle, then on the wall of a municipality water facility and finally on the cement ground. The man suffered serious fractures on the pelvis and the right leg. He was transferred with a helicopter to Athens where he remain hospitalized in a private clinic.
