Unprecedented! State broadcaster ERT gave the floor to a monk priest to “enlighten” Greeks with conspiracy theories regarding the coronavirus. Priest Ignatios claimed that the World Health Organization WHO is trying to impose a “world dictatorship” through the virus and that people were paid to say that 200 have died from Covid-19 in Greece.
Ignatios made the headlines earlier after he slammed and insulted an elderly woman for wearing a protective mask during the divine liturgy in the church of Agia Paraskevi monastery in Eodea, western Macedonia.
The monk seized the opportunity to speak to state broadcaster and featured in the most vivid way the face of obscurantism, religiosity, ignorance and conservatism that prevails in Greece.
Under the applause of believers surrounding him, Ignatios the existence of the coronavirus and expressed the view that it is a creation with the aim to impose a world dictatorship.
He attacked Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece claiming that he does not believe in Christ because he believes in the coronavirus.”

He also claimed that diseases were not transmitted inside the churches “because the saints heal.”
Those wearing masks play the game of the devil because carnival-goers wear masks, too.
“There are many viruses. The coronavirus is not a pandemic and those who said their own people have died were paid to do so. In the church it is an insult for the faithful to wear a mask. They offend the world. The church is a sacred place. It is the abode of God and the Saints and the Saints heal,” the monk priest said.
Thousands of Greeks stormed ERT TV with angry messages demanding the immediate interruption of the live transmission.
The magazine presenters apologized. However, overwhelmed ERT TV with messages
ERT presenters were clearly in a difficult position from what Ignatius said, while their reaction a few minutes after the connection was impressive, when they had to justify themselves to the viewers, who were sending angry messages.
PS some Greek priest may seem to live in the Middle Ages “caves” but they are best informed through high speed internet about all bizarre conspiracy theories coming from the USA, broadened with Greek Orthodox elements. In my village we call it “bigotry.”

IF he truly believes that the saints will heal, send every single infected person to him immediately.
Good for him.
