50 factory workers in Halkidiki tested positive for Covid-19

50 workers at a food processing plant in Halkidiki, northern Greece, were tested positive for Covid-19. The factory processing olives is located in the area of Ormylia and has a total of 300 workers.

All of the factory workers have been reportedly tested as soon as the first two cases were detected when two workers returned from Albania two weeks ago, fell ill and were tested.

According to local media halkidikinews, all infected workers have either mild symptoms or are asymptomatic and are in self-isolation at home. One person, who is relative to one of the first workers infected, has been hospitalized in designated hospital for preventive reasons due to underlying health issues.

Speaking to Open TV, the legal advisor of the factory confirmed the news saying that all of the 50 workers who are  tested positive are quarantining at home, their family members have also been tested.
The workers live in the broader area of Ormylia where the factory is located.
The factory has temporary suspended its operation so that a full disinfection can be conducted.
The new massive cases were not included in the Covid-19 bulletin of Saturday that normally includes daily data until 3 p.m.
