A powerful earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale shook the island of Hydra on Monday morning. The earthquake occurred in the sea area 53 km South-South-East from the island at 7:27 a.m. local time.

The focal depth was 89.9 km.
No material damage or injuries have been recorded.
The earthquake off Hydra was felt strongly also in Greek capital Athens, 119 km away.
Head of National Earthquake Protection and Planning organization Eftimios Lekkas told state broadcaster ERT TV, that such earthquakes do not have aftershocks.
