UPD Teenager foreigner airlifted from Kalymnos to Crete as coronavirus suspect

Inside a special negative pressure capsule a teenager boy was flown with a Chinook helicopter from the island of Kalymnos to the University Hospital in Heraklio on Crete early Thursday morning.

The 17-year-old French national had developed high fever for the last two days and chest pain.

Doctors at the health center of Kalymnos carried out a Covid-19 test on the teenager and before the results were out, the patient was already being transferred with a helicopter of the Greek Air Force to Crete.

The boy was inside a special capsule due to suspicion that he had been infected with coronavirus.

Speaking to local media ekriti, the general manager of Venizelio Hospital in Heraklio, Costas Terzakis, said that the teenager had undergone a second test upon his arrival at the dawn.

According to Skai TV, the young patient is hospitalized isolated in the Covid-19 section of the hospital. First laboratory test showed that his heart enzymes were high.

The results of both Covid-19 tests were expected in the next couple of hours.

However, cretapost reports that the boy was tested positive to coronavirus.

The French teenager was for vacations on Kalymnos since one week.

UPDATE: Both tests turned out negative, media reported on Thursday evening. However, due to the coronavirus suspicion the boy’s transfer with the special capsule was according to the health protocols.
