Coronavirus cases in Greece reach 11,524, death toll 284

144 new cases of coronavirus were detected in Greece in the last 24 hours, health authorities announced on Sunday. on Sunday. Four more deaths in the same time increased the death toll to 284.

24 of the new cases were detected at the entrance points of the country.

The total number of cases in the country has now increased to 11,524, of which 55.7 pct are men; 2,245 (19.5 pct) are linked to travel abroad, while 5,017 (43.5 pct) are linked to another known case.

The number of patients with Covid-19 needing respiratory support was 41 on Sunday, while their median age was 70 years old. Ten of these cases were women and 92.7 pct had either an underlying condition or were aged above 70 years old.

A total of 161 Covid-19 patients have exited ICUs.

There were four more deaths related to Covid-19 on Sunday, bringing the total to 284. Of these, 106 were women while the median age of those that died was 78 and 96.1 pct had either an underlying condition or were aged above 70.

Of the cases located on Sunday, 20 were linked to known instances of congestion and 13 to a recent trip within the country.

Over a third (51 cases) were in Attica, with another nine each in Thessaloniki, Pella and Pieria, seven in Iraklio, six in Kozani and five in Achaia, with the rest spread out throughout the country.

  1. I cannot fully understand the reported covid-19 infections.
    Infections on Cyclades islands are regularly reported as extremely low (about 2-6 cases per day). On the other hand, on islands like Mykonos, Paros, Santorini special restrictions have been implemented.
    To be quite clear, I fully understand these restrictions, but why are then the numbers of infections on Cyclades islands so low?? And why do I see so many people on these islands (via webcams), who are not
    wearing a mask??
