Earthquake rattles with 5.2R Nisyros, felt on Kos and the Dodecanese

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale rattled the island of Nisyros and the islands of the Dodecanese five minutes after 2 o’ clock Thursday noon. The earthquake epicenter was located in the sea area 32 km North-West of the island of Nisyros.

Its focal depth was 150.7 km.

Greek seismologists reportedly expect no aftershocks due to the big focal depth.

The earthquake was felt on the island of Nisyros, on neighboring Kos and other islands in the Dodecanese as well in the western coast of Turkey.

There are no reports about injuries or material damages.

Nisyros has a “sleeping” active volcano.
