Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, possible hail fall and locally stormy wind.
EMY said in its warning that the weather deterioration will affect the island of Crete as well as the Dodecanese with intense weather phenomena, , especially the south parts and particularly the islands of Kasos and Karpathos.
The bad weather front is forecast to strike late Monday afternoon, November 9, 2020, and the south Dodecanese as of the evening hours.
The phenomena are expected to weaken as of the noon hours of Wednesday, November 11, 2020.
At the same time, the meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens warn of the risk of floods on Crete, especially in the east parts of the island.
The duration and intensity of the rainfall in combination with the saturated soil significantly increase the possibility of flood phenomena.
North winds in the Aegean Sea will reach 7-8 Beuafort on November 10-11, meteo notes.
Heavy rainfall over the weekend has caused floods on the island of Crete, flooding large agricultural areas and drowning hundreds of breeding animals.
