Coronavirus Greece: 3038 new cases, another 39 deaths, intubated 336

Greece’s health authorities announced on Firday, 3038 new coronavirus cases and another Covid-19 related deaths. The number of intubated Covid-19 patients reached 336, reaching again a new record level.

Total cases have reached 69,675 and death toll 997.

Health authorities warned of the increase of hospitalizations and of further increase in the following weeks.

Speaking at the weekly live briefing professor for Children Epidemiology Vana Papaevangelou said that “average hospitalizations are 350 per day.”

She added that those tested or hospitalized today may have been infected even a month ago.

She said that hospitalizations decrease is expected in the next 7-10 days.

Speaking to media, hospital doctors said that the number of hospitalized Covid-19 patients in their 40’s and there 50’s has increased.

The recent in infections, deaths and intubations have forced the Greek government to toughen lockdown measures and will impose a night curfew across the country from 9 pm to 5 am as of November 13, 2020, with very few exemptions – check here. For the latest night curfew updates check here.

Regarding decisions about possible closure of elementary schools, Education Minister Niki Kerameos will hold a press conference on Saturday, Nov 14.

According to the official daily bulletin on Friday, 4601(6.6%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 18334 (26.3%) are related to already known infection case.

54.1% of the infected are men.

The number of intubated patients in ICUs increased to 336 !!! from 310 day earlier. Their average age is 65, among them are 100 women. 81.8% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.

362 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.

Thirty-eight more deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 997. Of the deceased 399 were women. The average age of the deceased was 80 and 96.9% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

15 patients who needed intubation in last 24 hours from age group 40-64

5 of the latest fatalities also form age group 40-64

One of the deceased from age group 18-39 was not in ICU.

Rolling weekly average cases at 2493 !!!from 2152 last week up 16%.

Intubations Rolling Average in last 7 days: 269, up 62%
Deaths Rolling Average in last 7 days: 40.3 up 197%

Total tests since begin of outbreak are 2,053,166.

Tests in the last 24 hours: 24,970 with 12.17% of them positive. A good, normal number with less reason for concerns is when positive is below 2%.

Daily growth at +4.6%

Of the 3038 new coronavirus cases, 11 were detected at the country’s entry points.

11 of the new cases were detected at entry points; another 1 travelers already in the country sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.

  1. Thank you, KTG, for continuing the reports! Even if the figures are horrible. You are the best source of information from abroad, if you dont speak or read the greek language!

  2. I have a problem.. my husband finds so many reasons to go to the store or out with the car,
    I am 83 year old women, and afraid of this virus.. Mike goes out even when we do not need things
    we could live on the items he now have in our home for 2 months.. When quarantined I understand
    we do not need to shop from a store if we can order delivery. Well, both of our stores do delivery,
    but he has to have an excuse to go out on the sims.. How can you stop him from going out, my words
    do nothing to contain him???????
