The three-member Criminal Court of Thessaloniki sentenced to two years and two months two students who organized a corona-party in Thessaloniki on Saturday. The two tenants of the apartment where the party was held were sentence for violating the measures against infectious diseases.
The two students, a 24-year-old Palestinian man and a 21-year-old French woman were, furthermore, handed a fine of 200 euros, in addition to the administrative police fine of 3,000 euros for each one.
The prison sentences were suspended for three years.
On Friday night, neighbors had called the police to the apartment in Triandria suburb of Thessaloniki, disturbed by the loud music.
In addition to the tenants, police found in the apartment also another 15 young people, students from various European countries, who currently live in Thessaloniki in the framework of a well-known students exchange program.
Police fined each one of the corona-party participants with 300 euros.
Under the lockdown restriction social gatherings are not allowed.
Greece’s second largest city, Thessaloniki, is currently struggling against an “aggressive increase” of daily coronavirus infections and its hospitals are at a breaking point.
What is wrong with these people? Do they not understand the severity and health implications of the current crisis? Or is it, rather, they don’t care because they are young and invulnerable?
One would assume that, as they are students, they would have reached a level of intelligence and maturity
to better understand the situation. Clearly, common sense is not amongst their achievements thus far in life.
Shame on you all.
