Greece’s epidemiologists against return of click away, opening of hairdressers, bookstores

Greek epidemiologists have reportedly spoke out against the return of the click away service in retail shops as of next Monday, January 11, 2021, as the government was planning.

At the same time, it seems that the suggestion regarding hairdressers and bookstores will be similar.

According to media information, the experts of the Infectious Diseases Committee are in favor of postponing the resumption of click away to another later date, which will be determined depending on the epidemiological data.

the experts whose meeting is ongoing appear to be of the same suggestion against the opening of hairdressers and bookstores, planned also for Jan 11.

Official announcements on these issues will be made by the Deputy Minister and Head of Civil Protection Nikos Hardaliaas at the live briefing at 6:00 p.m. today, Friday.

Several health experts told media today that they favor an extension of the lockdown imposed since November 7, 2020 and that is supposed to end at 6:00 a.m. on Jan 11. The experts argue that the impact of the Christmas and New Year holidays on the course of the pandemic has not been seen yet and point at at the crowding in churches at Epiphany day, on Jan 6.

Newspaper ethnos reported earlier today that hospitalizations of Covid-19 patients have recently increased,.

In Greece, epidemiologists suggest but the final decision lies on the government in general and the Prime Minister in particular.

Despite divided opinions by the experts, primary schools, special education facilities and kindergartens will reopen on Monday, Jan 11.
