Greece records 28 deaths in 24 hours, 237 new coronavirus cases with fewer testing

Greece’s health authorities announced 237 new coronavirus cases on Sunday and 510 cases on Saturday. 48 Covid-19 patients lost their lives in  the last 48 hours. On Sunday, the Covid-19 patients intubated in hospitals across the country stands at 320..

Death toll has reached 5,469 and the total cases stand at 148,607.

Due to weekend, again the number of tests were a few thousands less than on weekdays.

Note that after r.5 months of lockdown, the government opens again the retail and several services with specific restrictions and rules on Monday, Jan 18, 2021

According to the official daily bulletin on Sunday, 5739(3.9%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 45466 (63.7%) are related to already known infection case.

The remaining infections are without known source.

52.1% of the infected are men.

The number of intubated patients in ICUs stands at 320 from 323 a day earlier. Their average age is 68, among them are 226(70.6%) men. 87.5% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.

1,030 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.

Another 28 deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 5469. Of the deceased 3225(59.0%) were men. The average age of the deceased was 79 and 95.4% of them had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Rolling weekly average cases at 562 from 664 last week.

Total tests since 1. Jan 2020 are 2962952 PCR and 835586 Rapid Ag tests

Positivity PCR+Rapid tests: 2.2%

Of the 237 new coronavirus cases, 13 were detected at the country’s entry points.

13 of the new cases were detected at entry points, plus 0 more travelers were already in the country.

The remaining cases are:

94 Attica (among them 12 in Piraeus, 12 in central Athens)

31 Thessaloniki

12 Larissa

Each 7 Kozani, Aitoloakarnania

Each 5 Achaia, Evros, Evia

Each 4 Imathia, Kilkis, Pieria

Each 3 Corinth, Lakonia, Xanthi, Fthiotida,

Each 2 Artaa, Viotia, Thasos, Karditsa, Lesvos, Magnisia, Rethymno,, Sporades, Trikala, Halkidiki

Each 1 Argolida, Arcadia, Grevena, Kavala, Lasithi, Rodopi, Messinia, Chania, Chios
