A series of earthquake strokes have been rattling the island of Lesvos on Monday morning. Seismologists appear reassuring saying the tremors are aftershocks of the 6.4 R earthquake in 2017 that damaged the village of Vryssa.
The highest magnitude so far is the tremor at 7:46 am with 5 on Richter scale. Its epicenter was 46 kilometers off the south-western coast of Lesvos. Its focal depth was at 14.9 km.
A few minutes later, a 4.5 R followed.

Earthquake sequence:
7:03 am 3.9 R
7:20 am 2.8 R
7:45 am 5 R
7:47 am 4.8 R
8:00 am 4.5 R
10:36 am 4.6 R
There have been no reports on damages, nobody was injured.
However, authorities have warned the residents of Vryssa to stay away from houses and other buildings that were damaged in the earthquake of 2017.
The earthquakes over 4.5 R were largely felt also on the western coast of Turkey.

Speaking to Mega TV, head of Earthquake Planning & Protection Organization Efthymios Lekkas said that the phenomenon is most likely a consequence of the big earthquake of 2017 as it is the same fault line.
He said a bigger earthquake is most unlikely to occur, however, we should wait for a few days to say that with certainty.
Also the head of the Geodynamics Institute Gerasimos Houliaras appeared reassuring.
