The platform for the vaccination of age group 65-69 opens on Friday, April 2, 2021. One will need a social security number AMKA in order to enter the platform and book an appointment.
The platform emvolio.gov.gr is in Greek only and if you have trouble you can book an appointment at the pharmacy around the corner or at the municipality citizens’ service office KEP.
Teachers who have been placed on stand by lists for leftover vaccines against Covid-19 will be alerted by the Vaccination Coordination Group in order to book a vaccination appointment
Note that currently vaccines are being administered to:
Citizens aged 60-64, over 70, over 75, over 80 and over 85, those with underlying health issues of high risk, and workers in the health sector.
Slow rollout
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Thursday that all people over the age of 60 and all those with serious underlying health problems will have received at least a first dose of a vaccine by early May.
The government hopes to receive additional 1.5 million vaccines doses in April.
Officials said that about 1.7 million vaccinations have been administered in Greece so far.

However, the slow vaccination roll out is not just a Greek problem but a European one.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has criticizsed on Thursday the rollout of coronavirus vaccines in Europe as being “unacceptably slow”.
It also said the situation in the region is more worrying than it has been for several months.
Vaccination campaigns in much of Europe have been hit by delays and the number of infections is rising.
When it comes to vaccination, the EU reportedly continues to lag well behind nations like the United Kingdom and United States. In addition, under the joint procurement program set up by the European Commission, doses are allocated on a pro rata basis, but some nations are taking less than their share.
Priority vaccination list
The official priority vaccination list includes 9 categories:
1a Health workers and personnel at social services
b Patients and workers in facilities for chronic ill, rehabilitation centers, social services centers and daily care.
c Teachers, personnel and students (over 16 years old) in special schools and creativity centers for children with disabilities.
d Citizens who come in contact with animals that may carry mutated strains of SARS-CoV-2.
2 People over 85
3 People over 80
4 People over 75
6 People over 65
7 a People over 60
b People aged 18-59 with increased risk underlying issues
8 a Teachers up to 59 years old in all education level and kindergartens
b Personnel of important state services
c People aged 18-59 living in crowded structures (refugees camps sometime in May)
9 People aged 18-59 without underlying issues – priority based on age groups 55-59, then 50-54, 45-49 etc.
Unofficially, many elected and non-elected officials affiliated with the ruling New Democracy have received vaccinations bypassing the priority list and posting pictures of their …achievement.
According to government plans, the priority list will be most likely modified as the next big target is to boost the vaccination program for residents on islands independent of age with the to immune locals against Covid-19 so that tourists can come. The plan is to have more vaccinations of islanders from May, as the country will officially open its gates to tourism in the middle of the month.
Despite a 5-month long lockdown, Greece is currently experiences a third wave of the pandemic with an average of over 3,000 new confirmed infections every day, over 60 deaths and intubated Covid-patients outside ICUs due to underfunded health care system.
Since the workers in the tourism industry have the first and constant contact with the tourists, all flights to the islands should be withheld until these workers have had BOTH vaccinations for their own protection. They are so far down the priorities list that they could be endangering their health every day for months.
I may be in the correct age group for much wanted vaccination but i have no AMKA numbet. Temporary one spoken about but not in existence. Please help to get it sorted.p
We received our 1st vaccine jabs yesterday in Athens and must comment the process was done in a very efficient manner. All personnel were extremely courteous and it did not involve any wastes of time.
not the case on Rhodes that everyone over 60 will have had at the least the first vaccination by early May. My wife’s first jab is on 01 June!
I was able to go online when the latest platform for 65 – 69 was opened on Friday 2 April and my first vaccination is on Tuesday 6 April! Today my husband had his first vaccination and the whole process was very orderly and well managed. Europe may have messed everyone about but I think Greece is doing a great job.
Greek efficiency has struck again, I turned 65 last month, went to book an appointment for vaccine jab, and was told my age group is not being done yet!!!!!!!
YOU COULD’NT WRITE A BOOK ANY BETTER COULD YOU!!!
So how many months do you have to wait before your personnel data is updated? and then will I be told.
“Ah, you have missed your age group, don’t know when you will get done now!!!!
Yep, a complete mess. We are in the age groups specified, my husband is in a high risk category, but after several attempts with new amka after waiting one month the computer still says ‘oxi’. And yet tourist here now and more coming. And even the British Embassy doesn’t know what’s going on. Yet the PM is saying the vaccine is free to all and he will look after the health and safety of us all. Don’t think so. I wouldn’t mind just getting an appointment that would be something.
I am 65 (66 in Greece) I got an amka number in February ready for when I could get vaccinated.
My age group is now getting appointments but when I went to my pharmacy for an appointment, I was told that when they put my amka number in the system it came back as me not being in that age group. They couldn’t give any further advice. I contacted Kep but they couldn’t help.
How do I sort this problem? all I want is to be vaccinated.
Sorry, I also completed a form online to query the decision but when it came to the dropdown box it only showed the number 2 which I had to select not even knowing what reason 2 is all about. I have not had a response yet.
Hi Tania Johnson
I heard the same, gave up trying, so what I have done is this…………,, type this on PC
https://emvolio.gov.gr/aitisi
This will give you a personal data questionnaire to fill in, it’s in Greek only!!!!!
It’s for the illusive AMKA number
I don’t speak or read Greek, so I translated the form into English, printed it off. Translated it back into Greek, then filled in the blanks using English copy as guidance then submitted it.
Got a reply more or less straight away to say it has been received.
Now I wait !!!
Hope this has been helpful, good luck

The information on this page is out of date. You do not need an AMKA number or a temporary AMKA number. I have submitted a successful application without one. This is what you do:
Go to https://emvolio.gov.gr/aitisi
Fill out the form as indicated. In the English translation (I used Google Chrome) there is a box saying “Cause of problem”. Select “I do not have an AMKA” and the box for the AMKA number will disappear. You have a choice of using ID card, Passport, or European Insurance card as ID. There are other boxes for your AFM, contact phone and email. I believe you need a phone that will receive SMS.
Have you heard back from them yet? I registered my mother (70-years-old) and it said the registration was successful but then we never heard back… That was about two weeks ago.
