Relatives of a patient confirmed with Covid-19 raided a ward in a big hospital in Athens and harassed doctors and nurses claiming that the whole virus narrative was a conspiracy.
A man, relative of the Covid-patient and his alleged “girl friend” forced themselves into the Covid-ward in Attikon hospital a week ago and started filming the wards and the patients.
Refusing to accept their relative diagnosis, they made unbelievable accusations and allegations, claiming among others that “hospitals falsely categorize patients as infected with Covid,” that hospital workers “lock up patients and don’t take care of them” and that they “kidnap Covid-patients without informing their relatives.”
Τhe union of hospital workers that made the incident public said that this was not an “isolated incident.”
In a statement they said that “this was not a spontaneous or isolated event”, noting that “similar practices occur in other hospitals.”
The workers suspect that such incidents targeting frontline health workers come from “the far-right front” and serve the purpose of channeling the people’s anger over the government management of the pandemic against health workers.
It should be noted that there are Greeks on social media on internet with thousands of followers who spread such fake news. Despite government warnings that prosecutors will “arrest” those claiming pandemic related fake news, these people and their followers are still freely flooding the Greek internet.
Conspiracy theories? Well, I remember my time at university in the UK way back, discussing Darwin’s Theory of Evolution (the Flat-Earth theorists weren’t even worth a mention). The basic premise of their arguments was based on a suspicion of anything new that challenged the accepted view. I am tired of these ignorant people who have not bothered to invest in a knowledge of the science behind the research into Covid-19 and its results. As for it being’ right wing’ motivated: I wouldn’t know but history should have taught us that denial of scientific proofs only holds back, in this case, an early resolution of this pandemic problem.
Leave politics for the gutter: this is far too important.
Such complete idiots! They only have to look around the world and then they will see that every country is stuggeling with covid. Do they really believe covid does not exist??? Amazing how stupid people can be! And do they really want to deny their relatives the care and help they need??? Do they want their relatives to die of neglect????? Odd!!!
