Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday, 808 new coronavirus cases and 24 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients decreased further to 392.
There has been a progress since the last week, however, as every weekend, carried out tests are much fewer than on weekdays.
Yet, both the number of deaths and intubated Covid-patients has been decreasing.
There was confusion on Monday when one Minister claimed that 100% of the Covid-patients in ICUs were not vaccinated and the government spokesperson said a few hours later that it was over 90%.
A health expert told state broadcaster ERT that those vaccinated in ICU had probably underlying health issues such as obesity or transplant and their body was not able to produce the required number of antibodies.

At the Live Briefing on vaccinations on Monday, health authorities announced that the online platform for age group 25-29 and for the vaccines Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson&Johnson opens on June 10.
They said further that a total of 6,225,000 vaccine doses have been administered, so far.
4,000,000 citizens have received one dose (38.1% coverage of population) and 2,350,000 (22.4% of the population) have received both doses.
“Greek statistics” are a bit confusing, as J&J consists of one dose only.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 410,166 infections (daily change: +0.2%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 38 infections are related to travel from abroad and 1681 to other confirmed cases.
51.2% of the infected are men.
There are 24 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of pandemic victims to 12,301. Of these, 95.5% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.
A total of 392 Covid-patients -from 398 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67 years. 63.4% are men. 86.5% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.
2,510 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
129 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -22.29%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 159.
The median age of new infections is 43 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

We are expats living in apokoronas, came to [xxx] Resort in [xxx] , near Rethymnon, for a long awaited break. The hygiene protocols are of a high standard but we were shocked that live music and dancing was taking place with active encouragement of guests to take part. We have been compliant throughout lockdown and thus retreated to the safety of our room. On reporting this to hotel staff, we were told…the information was unclear. Well, not according to the government directives. This is very disconcerting!
