Police officer was renting his communications radio to thieves for 2,000 euros

A police officer was renting for 2,000 euros per month his wireless communications radio to thieves through a mediator, investigation of the Greek Police has shown. The burglars would monitor police communication and would run away when they would listen that police was after them.

The incident was discovered when complaints went to the ministry that unknown individuals were in possession of a police radio, which is the security of the chat system, which can not be monitored otherwise and they would listen to the communications between police teams and the operations center.

The investigation revealed that the police officer had declared his device as missing.

In reality, he had rented it to a person for 2,000 euros per month, who on his part was renting it further for 3,000 euros to to members of the Roma community.

At some point, the two Roma were arrested and laboratory tests identified their genetic material in four theft cases.

The police officer has reportedly confessed his action.

There are no reports about his punishment.
