A coronavirus outbreak with 8 infections in a nursing home in Volos has set health authorities on alert. Tested positive to Covid-19 are reportedly four elderly and four members of personnel.
According to local media, the four elderly were all fully vaccinated against Covid-19 since a couple of months.
Of the infected personnel, one was vaccinated with the 1st dose and the remaining three were unvaccinated.
All infected elderly have mild symptoms, however, one was taken to the hospital of Volos and the remaining three will be transferred there too, state broadcaster ERT reported.
Speaking to local media taxydromos, the manager of the nursing home Pavlos Panos said that 20 of the 55 members of the staff were vaccinated, while all elderly had both vaccine doses.
He urged the state to proceed with legislation on the mandatory vaccination of care homes personnel.
