Greece: 1,558 new coronavirus cases, 10 deaths; geographic distribution

Greece’s health authorities announced on Sunday, 1,558 new coronavirus cases and 10 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units stands at 123.

Note that PCR and Rapid tests were several thousands less in the past 24 hours due to weekend.

There seems to be a kind of mess with quarantine hotels on the islands and the provisions of the Shipping Ministry demanding testing for those unvaccinated returning from the islands to the mainland.

Of the 5,398,353 vaccinated citizens (51.8% of population with at least one dose):

864,098 Partially vaccinated

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 457,312 infections (daily change: +0.3%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 148 infections are related to travel abroad and 1557 to other confirmed cases.

Rolling average: 2531 (1759 previous week)

51.2% of the infected are men.

There are 10 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the total of pandemic victims to 12,850.  Of these, 95.5% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.

A total of 123 Covid-patients – from 124 a day earlier -are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 66 years. 60.2% are men. 87.8% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.

2,757 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

132 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +8.2%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 109.

The median age of new infections is 42 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 1558 new cases, 11 were detected at the entrance gates of the country and 4 among travelers already in the country.
