“Menendez will never see Turkish soldiers leave Cyprus,” says AKP Deputy Chairman

“Bob Menendez will never see Turkish soldiers leave Cyprus. He will not be able to see it. He’s dreaming wrong,” Omer Celik, AK Party Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson of Turkish ruling AK Party said on Thursday.

Earlier this week, US Senator Bob Menendez, the chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, told Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades during a visit to the island that his goal was “to see the last Turkish soldier leave Cyprus.”

Celik described the Turkish army as the “guarantor of peace” on Cyprus.

“The Turkish Armed Forces will continue to be the guarantee of peace in Cyprus. He’s dreaming a fantasy. The Turkish Armed Forces are the guarantee of peace in North Cyprus, they are not there for nothing. Everyone, and the whole world, knows very well why the Turkish Armed Forces went there within the framework of the Peace Operation and what their presence means today.”

Claiming that people are exposed to violence even during a football match or a simple visit to the Greek Cypriot side, Celik said that the Turkish Armed Forces will continue to guarantee peace in Cyprus, contribute to the protection of the Cyprus cause, and contribute to the security of the North Cyprus.

“To say that the Turkish armed forces must withdraw from there means that the Greek Cypriots will occupy Cyprus,” he added.

Menendez “expressed a wish that will never come true,” the Turkish official said.

  1. “never leave” to ultimately be buried there

The US and Russia should work in unison to reunify Cyprus against this uneducated embezzling sultan dictator playing them against each other.

  2. If they do not care to leave, perhaps Israel, France, Egypt, and the US can join Greece’s arrival during Mendendez’s tenure. Then, and as they said in the movie “The Bronx Tail” , “now youse cant leave”

    =)
