Greece’s health authorities announced on Tuesday 3,040 new coronavirus cases and 42 deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospital Intensive Care Units decreased further to 333.
Health authorities announced that they will open the platform for vaccination appointments for the booster shot on Sept 30, 2021. The booster shot is for people aged over 60, for health personnel and residents of nursing homes.
Health Minister Thanos Plevris and the deputy Mina Gaga are heading to Thessaloniki on Wednesday for an extraordinary meeting with 14 local mayors due to an alarming increase of coronavirus cases and unvaccinated patients in hospitals ICUs.
According to health authorities in the broader area, 248 Covid-patients are hospitalized. Of them 202 are unvaccinated ad 46 vaccinated. Of the 53 intubated 51 are unvaccinated.
A mini lockdown in northern Greece is not ruled out in the upcoming days.

A total of 333 Covid-patients – from 342 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 65 years. 63.4% are men. 80.5% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.
According to EODY among the intubated patients:
304 (91.29%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated
29 (8.71%) are fully vaccinated

3,096 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
212 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +65.62%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 192.
