Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday 2,130 new coronavirus cases and 47 deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospital Intensive Care Units decreased to 323.
Much fewer tests in the past 24 hours due to the weekend.
One-third of the new coronavirus cases have been located in Attica and Thessaloniki.
At the Live Briefing on vaccinations on Monday, health authorities reminded that the platform for the booster shot to everyone over 60 years old will open on September 30, 2021. The booster shot should be received 6 months after the second dose, health authorities said.
Authorities are concerned about the low vaccination rate sin certain regions. Secretary general of Primary Health Care Marios Themistokleous named these regions as:
- Arcadia, Serres, Xanthi, Ilia, Pella, Fokida, Evrytania, Drama, western Attica, Pieria, Kilkis.
Themistokleous said that Greece has scheduled to receive 27.576 million vaccine shots in 2021. He added that the country has donated 1.54 million AstraZeneca doses to ten countries, among them to Albania, North Macedonia, Bosnia, Libya, Kenya and Egypt.

There are 47 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the total of pandemic victims 14,727*. Of these, 95.4% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.

A total of 323 Covid-patients – from … a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 65 years. 62.5% are men. 81.7% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.
According to EODY among the intubated patients:
292 (90.4%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated
31 (9.6%) are fully vaccinated

- 18-39: 11
- 40-64: 143
- 65+ : 169
3,134 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
168 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -12.04%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 191.

The median age of new infections is 39 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
