Greece: 2,324 coronavirus cases, 22 deaths, 334 intubations; distribution

Greece’s health authorities announced on Friday 2,324 new coronavirus cases and 22 deaths in the past 24 hours. The number intubated Covid-patients in hospital Intensive Care Units stands at 334.

Ahead of the new “freedoms” to start on upcoming Saturday, authorities urged vaccinated citizens ( of course, also unvaccinated ones) to keep wearing masks and comply with social distancing and hygiene measures.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 673,317 infections (daily change: +0.3%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 119 infections are related to travel abroad and 3287 to other confirmed cases.

Rolling average: 2130 (2159 previous week)

50.9% of the infected are men.

There are 22 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the total of pandemic victims 15.069*. Of these, 95.4% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.

*5 deaths form previous days incorporated in EDOY’s data on Friday.

A total of 334 Covid-patients – from 335 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67 years. 59.6% are men. 80.5% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.

According to EODY among the intubated patients:

288 (86.23%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated

46 (13.77%) are fully vaccinated

According to EODY, intubated Covid-patients based on age group are:

  • 0-17  :   0
  • 18-39: 10
  • 40-64: 130
  • 65+  : 194

3,202 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

185 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -10.19%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 169.

The median age of new infections is 39 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 2,324  new cases, 5 were detected at the entrance gates of the country and 6 among travelers already in the country.
