German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay a visit to Greece on October 28-29, her spokeswoman in Berlin announced on Friday. The visit date may have also a symbolic character as it coincides with the National Day October 28, the day Greeks celebrate as Ochi-Day, the day the country said “No” to occupation by the Axis powers in 1940.
Merkel will meet with the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
An official dinner will take place on Thursday, October 28, while a joint press conference with Merkel and Mitsotakis is scheduled on Friday noon, October 29.
The visit of the German Chancellor in Athens is “an important sign of the close – and in the spirit of trust – cooperation between the two countries, including in the European context,” Deputy Speaker of the German Federal Government Ulrike Demmer said.
She added that there are many issues of common interest, such as addressing the challenges of climate, health and migration, in which Germany and Greece are working closely together.
During the meeting with the Greek PM bilateral relations, European and international policy issues and economic cooperation will be discussed, Demmer said.
The Chancellor will also meet with young representatives of Civil Society.
Merkel visits the country after an invitation by the Greek Prime Minister and before she steps down after 16 years in power.
I remember US President Obama also visited Greece in the final month of his presidency. Doesn’t seem meaningful somehow. And wasn’t it revealed recently that Merkel had made some negative comments about Greece during the economic crisis? Do Greeks trust her sentiments now?
Greece should have said “OXI” ten years ago to Merkel, Schäuble and their malevolent “Bankster” thieves.

I do not believe in miracles, let alone “The German Miracle” to have miraculously seen Germany rise so dramatically economically to be where it is today. There may be an alternative reason and I believe that this was no “miracle” where any “miracle” is practically impossible by its very definition. Where did so much stolen gold disappear”? Google how, “West German Justice Ministry dominated by former Nazis until the 1970s”. This also came as of a huge surprise, even to historians. I do not believe in miracles.
Even today, so little said about this trade and emissions cheat. It is so economically powerful today that it rules a Europe undemocratically that it already tried to destroy twice.
If Merkel wanted to help she would have spoken up about the forced loans. Forced loans from Greece that was starved out (and never repaid to “honor commitment” even after reunification! as again promised and lied) or more recently the other way that also starved Greeks in a decade of depression. Forced loans out and then in, two way loans but repaid only one way.
Visiting an autocratic Turkey she fails to sanction or stop selling arms/ submarines is an insult with her to coming here.
Some things never change, and her historic partner in genocide is her friend.

She refused to attend a commemoration in Serbia where the Germans executed more than 2700 people including school children on the 21st of October, and days after, because the Partizans killed some Germans.
There is no such things as a “Clean Wehrmacht”. Everywhere in Europe and especially in Eastern Europe they killed, raped and looted on a massive scale. It were not only the SS and the Einsatzgruppen that did this.
