Over 180,000 checks as restrictions for unvaccinated in effect (POLL)

Greece’s authorities conducted over 180,000 checks and inspections across the country over the weekend to enforce the new measures and restrictions imposed since Saturday due to the increase of coronavirus infections. Many checks ended up in arrests, fines and the closure of businesses.

90,882 checks were carried out on Satuday and 91,079 checks on Sunday, Greek Police has announced.

At least 15 people were arrested, 998 fines for measures violations were imposed and 33 stores were shut down for at least two weeks.
The majority of violations referred to not use of mask and not observance of safety distance in closed spaces, the absence of vaccination or recovery certificate by customers in closed spaces as well some minor issues like the warnings about the maximum number of staff and customers in facilities..

A well-known closed space club in central Athens was shut down and had its license revoked for 60 days after inspectors located several people without a vaccination or a Covid-19 recovery certificate. This was reportedly the third offense for the club in the span of a few days.

The new measures aim to restrict unvaccinated citizens from having access to public services and private businesses like banks, restaurants and cafes, stores and beauty salons. The measures are considered as punitive for those refusing to get the jab against Covid-19 as it requires several negative Rapid or PCR test per week if they want to go to work, for shopping or just a coffee at the neighborhood cafe.

It is clear that there is now a distinction in the free movement of vaccinated and unvaccinated citizens with an obvious restriction on the freedoms of the unvaccinated.

What do YOU think? Do you agree with these measures?
