Immunity and antibodies after booster shot; Covid-spread by vaccinated citizens

Head of Greece’s National Vaccination Committee Maria Theodoridou stressed on Monday that immunity and antibodies develop very fast after the booster shot, in only two or three days from the day of inoculation.

At the weekly Live Briefing, Professor Theodoridou also underlined that third dose jabs help reduce the spread of the virus as well as new infections.

Regarding the spread of the virus also by vaccinated people as well as their risk of being infected, Theodoridou noted that vaccinated citizens can transmit the virus less often than the unvaccinated.

She said that transmission risk is higher when the environment has high viral load and added that they transmit in short period of time.

Theodoridou also pointed out that vaccination against the coronavirus prevents serious complications from Covid-19, which present three times more often among the unvaccinated, among whom hospitalizations register twice as often and deaths seven times higher than among the inoculated, citing data from the Center for Disease Control in the US.

Some 922,000 citizens in Greece have been vaccinated with the booster shot by November 22.

Greece registered a shocking number of 105 deaths on Monday, the highest number of covid-related daily deaths in 2021 While the average number of daily infections is some 7,000-7,500 in the last few weeks, the number of intubated in hospitals has reached 608. Some of them are outside the ICUs.
