Record 130 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours; 5,736 new cases; distribution in Greece

Greece hit a negative record on Covid-related deaths on Tuesday when health authorities announced 130 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. It is the second highest record since the pandemic began. The first was on May 3, 2021 when 134 people had died in 24 hours. Furthermore, authorities announced also 5,736 new coronavirus cases. Tthe number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals stands has decreased to 700.

Among those intubated is a baby at a hospital in Thessaloniki.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 1,012,659* infections (daily change: +0.6%).

*217 infection cases were added on EODY data on Tuesday.

In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 114 infections are related to travel from abroad and 2,987 to other confirmed cases.

Rolling average 4,867 from 5,613 last week.


130 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, brought the total of pandemic victims to 19,475. Of these, 95.3% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

700 patients are on ventilators in hospitals, from 709 a day earlier. Their median age is 64 years and 80.1% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.

Of the total in intubation, 568 (81.14%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 132 (18.86%) are fully vaccinated.

  • 40-64: 344
  • 65+ : 325

3,625 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

325 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -2.4%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 382.


The median age of new infections is 38 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
