Greece΄s health authorities announced on Thursday 6,667 coronavirus cases and 71 Covid related deaths in past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals decreased to 655.
The government has announced a series of measures against Covid-19. These include masks in- and outdoors, double masks or KN95 in certain places, additional tests for travelers in the country. The measures go into force on December 24. More details here on KTG.
At the Live Briefing on the course of the pandemic on Thursday evening, health authorities announced that infection cases confirmed to Omicron variant have increased to 33. Of them 18 are identified on the island of Crete, said EODY President Theoklis Zaoutis.
Those infected have mild symptoms of average duration of 3 days. Two of the infected needed hospitalization, he said.
Another 98 cases suspect of Omicron are under investigation as the PCR test showed Omicron strains, Zaoutis added.
Other health experts said at the briefing that with Omicron around, even vaccinated citizens should be in isolation (restrict mobilization) and have two tests in 7-10 days after contact with confirmed infection case.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 1,056,583 infections (daily change 0.6%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 196 infections are related to travel from abroad and 2,739 to other confirmed cases.

71 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, brought the total of pandemic victims to 20,198*. Of these, 95.2% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

655 patients are on ventilators in hospitals, from 665 a day earlier. Their median age is 63 years and 78.8% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.
Of the total in intubation, 548 (83.66%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 107 (16,34%) are fully vaccinated.
3,703 Covid-patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
312 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -15.68%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 321.
The median age of new infections is 38 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
