Greece: 16,962 coronavirus cases, 53 deaths, 459 intubations; distribution

Greece’s health authorities announced on Wednesday 16,962 coronavirus cases and 53 Covid-related deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of Covid-patients intubated in the hospitals across the country stands at 459 from 455 a day earlier.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 2,353,577 coronavirus infection cases (daily change: +0.7%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 297 infections are related to travel from abroad and 2,003 to other confirmed cases.

Rt: 0.97 from 0.99 last week.

Rolling average: 16,813 from 17,912 last week.

53 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours brought the total of pandemic victims to 25,538. Of these, 95%. had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

459 patients are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67 years, 65.4% are men and 88.2%. have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.

Of the total in intubation, 333 (72.55%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 126 (27.45%) are fully vaccinated.

4,232 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

372 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +2.48%). The average daily admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 353.

The median age of new infections is 35 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 79 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 16,962 new coronavirus cases, 35 were detected at the entry gates of the country and 2 among travelers already in Greece.
