Greece’s first anti-drone platform is being developed by the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), Deputy Minister of Investments & Development Christos Dimas said on Saturday.
The research team is ready to move to the stage of final tests in real conditions, while, at the same time, CERTH is in discussions with private companies for its eventual commercial exploitation.
Speaking to state-run news agency amna, Dimas said that over the past few days, CERTH’s Information Technologies Institute (ITI) participated in the planning, development and evaluation of an anti-UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) system.
It is a comprehensive solution to the growing problem of the UAV threat, building on a state-of-the-art system and enhancing it with research into various detection and neutralization technologies and functions, it was added.
In this research and development context, the system developed deep learning methodologies and integrated sensors of various types, to finally implement the first integrated platform, of entirely Greek design, for the detection, identification, localization and neutralization of unauthorized and potentially hostile unmanned aerial vehicles
The Greek program is being developed in the context of the Advanced hoListic Adverse Drone Detection, Identification Neutralization (ALLADIN) program of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.
